About Us

From a very young age, Sonja has had a passion for painting and drawing. Growing up in Flanders, Belgium, with a father who was a hobby painter and a mother who was a clothes designer, she was surrounded by creativity. In high school, while studying languages, Sonja was already drawing portraits of music stars in pencil and charcoal and creating watercolor paintings of flowers and cats.

After high school, Sonja pursued her passion for art by studying graphic design at the prestigious Academy of Arts in Antwerp. However, life took her in a different direction when she met her partner and went on to run a retail business together.

It wasn't until a trip to New Zealand that Sonja rediscovered her love for painting. The North and South Islands' landscapes and light captivated her, and she has been painting ever since. Over the past years, Sonja has created commissioned paintings and participated in art shows.

Sonja's preferred medium is acrylic paint, but she is also skilled in watercolor, oil, ink, pencil, and charcoal drawing. She is passionate about exploring the interplay of light, layers, and texture in her work and strives to create original pieces that add character to any space.
